Mercy here is in desperate need of a barn home. She was originally found abandoned in a field with her 2 brothers when she was 5 and a half months old. Sadly, her brothers died of distemper and she was left alone. It is likely that her and her siblings were abandoned in the field due to their sickness, so we can only imagine what kind of life they had before. Mercy has never been able to adjust to living as a house cat, despite the hard work her foster home put into trying to gain her trust. She is not interested in being pet or snuggled or spending her time socializing with people, she would rather love you from afar and spend her time amongst other felines like herself. Mercy would make a wonderful addition to a farm home or large property where she has lots of room to run around and be herself. She gets along great with other cats; she just doesn’t quite feel the same about people.
Mercy has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, deflead, and tested negative for both FeLV and FIV.
If you are able to give Mercy a chance at living the life she wants to live, please contact us at gvac@shaw.ca

The Fairmont Empress – 721 Government St.
Make sure to come down the the Fairmont Empress to vote for GVAC’s tree! We have been receiving all kinds of sponsorship donations and great feedback on our tree, so don’t forget to vote!
Every year, the Festival of Trees transforms The Fairmont Empress into a lush forest of beautifully decorated trees to raise funds for BC Children’s Hospital. As sponsors of this event, local businesses, organizations and individuals decorate the trees in a sometimes wacky, often irreverent, and always beautiful fashion. The trees are displayed throughout The Fairmont Empress over the holiday season, beginning November 19, 2009, with the kick-off decorating gala through to January 3, 2010.
The Festival of Trees is open to the public who are encouraged to cast a ballot for their favourite tree. Thousands of Festival visitors cast a vote each year; with each vote they are entered into a draw for the People’s Choice Award Citizen Prize. Last year the event received over 8,000 votes.
Now in its 18th year, the Festival has grown to feature up to 75 trees. It has become a treasured family tradition, community favourite and one of the most anticipated festivals in Victoria.
GVAC has been invited to take part in the Blessing of the Animals @ 2:00pm, October 4th at St. Paul’s Church to celebrate the feast of St. Francis of Assisi by having pets blessed in the spirit of this patron saint of animals and ecology.
They have kindly offered to donate the collection to us on that day. We will have an information table set up to help spread the word about who we are and what we do.
Please bring pets in carriers or leashes.
All Faiths Welcome!
