More kittens to come!

Keep an eye out for the last of our late season kittens coming up. They have been in foster care for the past few months, learning how to enjoy the company of humans and also learning how to do wonderful new things, like playing and cuddling, which they never had a chance to do out in the wild. We will be posting Minnie, Monty, Steve and three other older kittens.

Demi

Demi was born around the beginning of August and was trapped as a feral kitten with her two siblings. Demi is the most shy of the kittens and still skitish but she will climb into your lap for a cuddle. She would blossom as an only cat or make an excellent companion for another cat. She is comfortable with friendly dogs and loves her brother Ashton (not sure why he always looks like he’s smiling!) and sister very much and spends much of her day playing with them.

Demi’s adoption fee includes her spay, when the time comes, she is fully vaccinated, treated for worms and fleas, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV. Shirley

Hi, I’m Shirley. I’m smaller than my sister and am a darker grey with a few light grey stripes and have beautiful green eyes. I’m cute and I know it. I’m a little more shy than my sister, it takes me a little longer to trust. But… Once I know your loving intentions, I love head butting and rubbing up against legs – figure eights around your legs for as long as you’ll let me! I’m not a lap cat, but I really enjoy sitting beside my foster mom and getting stroked and combed.

Both girls came from a semi-feral colony, and are about 5 months old. Trusting humans took some time, but through consistent love and treats they really came around. Big or sudden/unexpected moves still scare them, but they love playing with toy mice (any toy, really), are really beginning to understand humans = affection, have super soft coats, and really respond to food! Anyone who is lucky enough to adopt these sweethearts will be bringing into their family a loyal loving companion for life!

Honey – updated December 30th, 2011 – adoption pending

Say hello to Honey! She is an absolutely gorgeous 6 month old kitten with the distinct look of a Maine Coon cat – her coat is very soft and sleek and she loves to be stroked. Honey is extremely affectionate and playful too. Honey is a smart cookie who knows her name and will come when called. She is completely litter trained. She loves other cats, but is frightened of dogs and boisterous young children; Honey would do best in a home where there are no dogs or children.

Honey’s adoption fee includes her spay (which has already been done) as well as her 1^st and 2^nd set of shots and testing for FIV/FeLV.”

Nancy

Sid & Nancy came into GVAC’s care from the CRD. They were from a litter of kittens that someone had found on their property. They needed to be socialized and have a warm place to be kittens again, so their foster mom and dad, Taylor & Dale took them in. Nancy is still skittish, but is learning to enjoy playing and being petted by humans and she has come along a bit further than Sid at this point. Every day she makes progress and her foster parents feel that she is ready for adoption. She will need patience and loving care to help her continue to come out of her shell.

Update from Sid & Nancy’s foster mom on November 21, 2011:

Nancy likes pets but still leans away sometimes until she realizes that you’re just being nice.

Tonight they were both curling onto their sides like kittens trying to entice your hand to pet them before they playfully attack and allowed me to pet their backs.

Sid is still a bit shy and he does like to swat at your hand and curiously nibble it.
