Wild Rose Rescue Ranch for UVIC Rabbits
August 24, 2010 As many of you know, there has been an ongoing “battle” to save the lives of the feral rabbits at U-Vic. But, there is good news! The permits are starting to be approved by the Ministry of Environment and Laura-Leah Shaw, who has arranged for a portion of the rabbits to go to the Wild Rose Rescue Ranch in Texas: http://wildroserescueranch.com/index.htm, has received hers this week. Now what is needed is to start major fund-raising in order to send these rabbits to Texas. This sanctuary (found after a very long search by Laura-Leah and her assistant) has agreed to take up to 1000 sterilized feral rabbits – a most generous gesture for those otherwise doomed little creatures.
Through an organization called The Responsible Animal Care Society (TRACS) people can donate to the funds for saving the U-Vic rabbits. Funding is needed for legal issues, medical and transportation costs as well as food/water for the travelling bunnies.
Instructions are: go to TRACS website called “The Battle of the U-Vic Bunnies”.
