VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Phone Line Volunteer

GVAC needs volunteers to assist with answering our phone lines. People call us each day for assistance with spaying and neutering, vet visits for low-income families with pets, adoption information and other inquiries. All calls go to voicemail, which the volunteer accesses and then returns the calls at a time of day that is convenient for them. Phone Line Volunteers return calls 5 days per month (or less), for approximately 30-90 minutes per day, depending on call volume.

This is an important part of our operations and volunteers are greatly needed. Volunteers are provided with detailed information about the types of calls they’re most likely to get and have access to phone line veterans who can help with tough questions. Volunteers would need to get up to speed on GVAC policies and procedures.

This volunteering opportunity is best-suited for those who have excellent people skills and can handle difficult people in a compassionate, yet firm, manner.

“Pets in Transition” Volunteer

GVAC is collaborating with the Victoria Women’s Transition House to provide the pets of women in shelters with a safe and secure temporary home. To facilitate this, we need assistance with contacting pre-approved boarders when a pet needs care and transporting pets to and from the boarding facility.
This volunteering opportunity is best-suited to volunteers with their own transportation and flexible weekday schedules. They must also maintain discretion while interacting with clients and their pets.
