One of our volunteers, Marion, is helping an elderly lady trap ferals and their kittens in Colwood. So far, she’s caught 2 kittens.

It’s raining late season kittens for GVAC

We received an email from the CRD asking if anyone could help with 4 older feral kittens. We were able to take them into care and they are now safely in foster homes, although it will be hard work to bring these older kittens around. Then we were asked to help another 9-10 younger feral kittens coming in as well. Luckily, we have a few fosters that can only foster kittens, so we’ve been able to take them all. So, be prepared to see lots of kittens up for adoption once they’ve been socialized a bit and shown that human touch is a wonderful thing.

A huge Thank you to Telus and Cam for the very generous donation of $5000.00 given to GVAC on April 29, 2011. Telus is committed to making a positive difference in the community, so the general Manager choose this contest for all employees called the TELUS Victoria Optik TV Referral Program and who ever had the most referrals was able to choose their charity of Choice. A huge thank you to Cam Wong worked very hard and won the chance to give to his charity and he wanted to give to an animal rescue, so he asked his girlfriend Michelle to choose. Tremendous appreciation goes out to Michelle who goes Greater Victoria Animal Crusaders as her charity.

Telus was recently recognized by the association of Fundraising Professionals with the 2010 Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation Award. Vetcetera Pet Hospital at Tillicum Mall Spay/Neuter Clinic – June 8th

Vetcetera Pet Hospital at Tillucim Mall is offering a spay/neuter clinic for low-income families and rescue groups on June 8th. Cats and dogs between the ages of 5 months and 5 years are eligible.

Surgical fees are:

Cat neuter $60

Cat spay $100

Dog neuter $100 – $150 (varies by weight)

Dog spay $100 – $250 (varies by weight)

Other services available:

Nail trim

Microchip

Vaccinations

The spay/neuter clinic is open to members of the public and rescue groups alike. This could be a great opportunity to get your rescue pets spayed/neutered. For those of you that financially support spay/neuters for low income families, it may be worth sending some of your vouchered spay/neuters there so it’s cheaper for your group. Spaces are limited so call Vetcetera Pet Hospital at 778-410-2179 for more information.

Congratulations to their forever homes for picking such wonderful cats! We had three home checks this weekend and all were successful, so the kitties are going to their respective homes. Three more Happily Ever Afters for GVAC rescues!
