Mavis Ellen McCahill
1929-2009
Passed away suddenly and peacefully on Sat. Dec 5, 2009 in Victoria. Last of 3 generation McCahill of Victoria. Grandparents Captain Michael & Helen Tyson; parents, James Andrew & Vivian Viola Matthews, brother Michael James predeceased her June 2008. Also with 4 generations on Matthews side in Victoria, she really can be called “Native Victorian”. Independent to a fault, she remained in the family home until shortly before her death. Educated at Burnside Elementary, Central Jr. & Victoria High Schools, she immediately joined the working world with BC Electric/BC Hydro and spent 40 years at various placements in Customer Accounts, retiring Dec 1987. Happy with a good book, her garden and her cats, she managed to survive all but Lissy” who will go to cousin Laurie. Survived by cousins, Laurie McKay (nee Matthews), Craig & Randel Matthews with their families, survivors of the Tyson, Puttinger, Humber Clan and many friends.
We at GVAC want to offer our condolences to Mavis’ friends and family.
