GVAC has been invited to take part in the Blessing of the Animals @ 2:00pm, October 4th at St. Paul’s Church to celebrate the feast of St. Francis of Assisi by having pets blessed in the spirit of this patron saint of animals and ecology.
They have kindly offered to donate the collection to us on that day. We will have an information table set up to help spread the word about who we are and what we do.
Please bring pets in carriers or leashes.
All Faiths Welcome!

Meet Gordo. Gordo is a wonderful boy who has diabetes. Gordo is in a foster home with another cat, a bunny, and lots of dogs and is doing quite well. Here is what his foster mom Glenda has to say about him:
“Gordo is a very sweet cat who loves to be held and have tummy rubs. He loves dinner time. Giving his insulin shots is very easy as he just lies there without any trouble, and he is responding well to the insulin dosage he is now on. He is bunking with a bunny and another male cat, getting along with all. He will hog the food bowl if he is left to do so, which is something that needs to be monitored due to his diabetes. Gordo is used to seeing the dogs on the other side of the gate and is not afraid, but if they get too close he will hiss and swipe at them, but then he will go and lay down closer to the gate! Funny boy. He isn’t very vocal, but will give a little mew when it is dinner time.”
Gordo will need a home willing to keep his diabetes under control by giving him regular insulin shots and monitoring his condition. Are you that special home Gordo needs? Perhaps there is someone out there who shares Gordo’s condition or perhaps someone has a child who is diabetic and could learn from Gordo that needles aren’t so bad if they help to make you feel better!
If you would like to adopt Gordo, please email gvac@shaw.ca
